>>it appears my addcomments.cfm page has become indexed in google. usually this page is only accessed when a user goes clicks a link from the articles.cfm page.
Then, if the address of this page is in a <A tag, any robot will follow it. If it is accessed through a form, normally Google should not open it, but bad bots have no shame. >>so... because of the endless spam we are currently getting, i am assuming the spambots are going directly to the addcomment page? Yes, and they fill the form with garbage and submit it? >>now, i had an idea - what if on the addcomment page, i test that the user has come from the articles page using CGI.HTTP_referrer?? The referrer is not always supplied, even by well behaving browsers, so it is not a good idea. Many sites use images with some blured characters that only human eye can read and the visitor is asked to enter what he sees in a field. -- _______________________________________ REUSE CODE!
