Why wouldn't you choose YUI as an option to implement? I'm not sure I understand, unless it is purely preference. I don't use it but I know there are enough apps out there that use it to make it worth considering. JQuery on the other hand is something I have come to depend on, similarly to ColdFusion. Both are layers on top (Javascript and Java) and both make it much easier to use.
