As of CF9, the vast majority of CF can be written in script, if you desire. Almost every tag has a cfscript equivalent (I believe there were a few that didn't make the cut, but I can't recall which ones off-hand). Of course, some things are a bit more tedious doing them in script (such as outputting content and running queries).
