I have various sites bookmarked for small businesses (which is what most 
'independent developers' are).

  However, I don't think I have one in relation to legal issues.

   I recommend getting a lawyer to help you set up a basic contract.  The up-front 
money you spend may be a lot,
but you'll probably make it up (and more) with your first contract.
