Add-ons can make a lot of sense if they don't affect the basic functionality
of the core product and they cover that kind of features that aren't
required by the vast majority of the user base. To get an example, I would
be more than happy to pay 50 bucks to get a CFX that add support for zipping
files to CF Server, but I don't think adding it to the core product and
increase its price could be a good idea.

Of course the extensibility of a product shouldn't be an excuse to deliver
something limited in functionality.
