I run it on a VM with 2 GB of RAM (Linux host), and 2 CPU cores out of my host's 4 and it runs great, no problems.
My VM args are: -vmargs -XX:MaxPermSize=256m -XX:PermSize=64m -Dosgi.requiredJavaVersion=1.5 -Xms256m -Xmx1024m What sort of CPU do you have? I know when I had it running on a single CPU VM, it was aweful. It does so much stuff in the background, that anything less than 2 CPU cores will have it hanging hardcore.
