i feel your pain...
my 2c to this would be if you are going to alias then make sure its meaningfull.
Im not lying when ive seem some sql that was written as such
select * from invoice a, customer b, booking c
...and its the most frustrating thing you will ever see. it just total lazyness & a lack of thought. at the very least:
select * from invoice i, customer c, booking b
would have been more helpfull.

Another pet hate of mine is aliasing for the sake for it (FROM tablename t1, tablename t2, etc..)- why add one more layer of abstraction?
