The expression 'restore from a previous snapshot' (eighth of eight start-up options associated with troubleshooting) was misinterpreted by me.
Previously, I stated that this type of restoration uses a .chex file for an import. * Typically, backup.chex is the most recent good back up. CORRECTION: 'restore from a previous snapshot' is limited to .tgz sources. * Typically, binary_backup.tgz is older, by up to a week (sometimes more), than backup.chex. SO: wherever I advised the eighth option at start-up, that advice was poor. I did offer that poor advice at <http://n2.nabble.com/-tp1671649p2177803.html>. My apologies! In particular to Alison — I hope that she regained her most recent data. <http://chandlerproject.org/Journal/GrahamPerrin20090106> and <http://chandlerproject.org/Journal/GrahamPerrin20090110> are updated/corrected but I'm not entirely happy with the wording and (obviously) less 100% confident that these journal entries contents are correct.
