What fun. Shapecatcher is great. First off it clarified that I
misunderstood the Braille pattern from unicode.org because there are no
white circles. And it pointed me in directions I would not have imagined. I
was most intrigued by the "Spacing_Modifier_letters" as in
arrow = @"˰˲˯˱";
but they do not work for me because of their size and position relative to
the letters NESW.

I looked at the Braille set and was disappointed, but maybe I
misunderstood
what I was viewing. It looks like 4 rows x 2 columns of black and white
circles. And the two columns are too centered; not near the edges. I may
just use the arrows.
Thanks,

http://www.visibone.com/htmlref/char/cer.htm has all of the Unicode
characters. The search by image would be a bit boring. I suspect the
Braille set, possibly cannibalized, may serve your purpose.
I myself have found that the Windows "Paint" program good for
constructing
simple images such as the dots you describe.

Does anyone know of a set of unicode characters that would point to
the 4
directions by being located in that direction of the character -- dots
would be perfect if they could be placed near the margin of character
rectangle. I have found arrow symbols 2190-2193, but I want to
superimpose
the symbols on the letters NEWS and the overstruck arrows partially
obliterate their letters.
