I have been using dosbox under XP for over a year now, and find it
quite suitable for my needs.

It seems like the latest version 0.72 has moved here:
  http://dosbox.com/
(I just downloaded it earlier this morning, in fact)

I have several DOS programs that broke big time when
I upgraded to a 64-bit system and replaced by video card
(Basically, any programs that use a graphical video mode
would crash - the BIOS video call to set the graphics mode
would abnormally terminate the program instead of returning).
I don't know if this was a problem in the Windows XP DOS box,
or more likely, the video driver.

However, when I switched to running the programs in DOSbox
rather than the Windows built-in command window,
they worked fine. The main things I miss are the fact that
I can't do Windows cut+paste text between the dos box and
other applications, and the shell is crude and a bit buggy
(not as nice as DOS 6.2) but then again, those aren't really
that important if you're just using it to run legacy applications.
