I am doing the same. Moving to a 396, moderately built, but not over
400hp. I have a plain jane 10 bolt non-posi. Thinking about doing rear
disc while I am doing the "frame-off".

Sooooo how does one go about knowing what 12 bolts will fit if you don't
buy one of these expensive "made to order" 3rd party brand spanking new
12 bolts built for racing?

What GM products would have a 12 bolt, posi, and rear disc? Which would
be good donor cars?

Keep in mind that around here junk yards that deal with cars older than
1985 are more rare than a rice burner beating a big block Chevy.

You will more than likely need to throw a nice 12 bolt in there too.
The
stock 10 bolt peg leg rears usually don't hold up to the torque of a big

block. Make sure you have all the pulleys, brackets, and other stuff
for a
big block also
