Dave, I know that one is a small block, I spotted that right off. Being an SS was not the original question, being a 396 was meaning a U.S. built SS. When you wrote, "I helped a good friend of mine order a new 66 ss conv. 396 325 4 sp. it came with the cap in middle, i bought my 66 ss 396 360 conv in 1969 the cap is in the middle, i still have this car today," I was hoping you had a picture of the SS 396/360 you still have showing the cap in the middle since that was what you first referenced, not the Canadian Malibu SS with a small block.
I'd kind of like to know since in a previous post I referenced what I thought was a good source on 66 SS396 Chevelles. Now he's saying he's not going to "...defend every post I make or reply I give....people have to decide for themselves...". Lesson two learned this week. Don't try to lend a hand when all you get for your efforts is a big run around and can't get a straight answer to a simple question. I don't really care where the cap is on a 66 SS myself, but so far Mr. Meister still hasn't gotten a good answer to his question from a reliable source.
