And another thing, If you have a flat bed trailer. You can use it for many things. Mine has come in handy for
Boy Scout Parade Floats, Moving Dog Kennels, moveing pre built Sheds,  Portable  auto storage,.
Mine has stake pocket  for tie downs and I moved my Daughter From Va to Pa, With the clothing ect in the bed of the truck and all the other stuff on the trailer ( Fair wheather only )  gosh Even My Wife  think's it was money Well spent.
Especially when I moved  Her  compleate Girl Scout's troop's,  bunk and junk to camp in one fell swoop.

I've been following this thread and thought I'd add my two cents...

Being in the military means I move quite a bit and having a bunch of cars makes moving an interesting experience.

Instead of paying a moving company to move my cars I looked into renting a U-haul (junk) trailer.  U-haul wanted $700+ for a one way rental.  Since I needed to move 3 cars at the time and go back for the 4th later, spending $1400 to rent a trailer didn't make sense.

So instead of lining U-haul's pockets with my money, I went out and bought a trailer.  It was a brand new tandem axle, came with an aluminum diamond plate toolbox and electric brakes.  Total cost was $1600.  The initial outlay of cash didn't feel too good, but it was probably some of the best money I've spent.  Since I bought the trailer two years ago, I've used it at least a dozen times for a variety of things.

The $1400 spent on renting a trailer would have been long gone, but now I have my own trailer whenever I need it.

Food for thought.

Subject: [Chevelle-List] Auto Movers - Sacramento, CA to San Antonio, TX

Hello All,

It looks like I will be moving back to Texas from California (WHOO HOO!!!).  After almost two years in this hell hole, it looks like I will finally be back where I belong.  Of course I am going to miss the no-inspections-for-pre-1973-vehicles law and the weather, but nothing else!

I have checked with U-Haul for an auto transport and the auto transport which cost me $150 to move out here is $800 to move back.  I decided to check out auto transport companies and have received several quotes in the $650 to $900 range.

Does anyone have any advice on a good quality mover who isn't going to shaft me?  The move is from Sacramento area to San Antonio area.

Thanks in advance,
