Thanks for the input,Mike. If I can not figure
out the problem today,I'm going to get a pro to troubleshoot it.

Clint, I have a system with XP and one with 98. XP
has given me tons of trouble. I don't recommend that route. When I have
problems with my system I use Norton SystemWorks software to find and
correct glitches. I run it right off the CD, not loaded on my harddrive. You
might want to pick up this or a similar product to diagnose your PC's
troubles.
Good luck.
Mike

I've thought about doing that,Steve, but as
soon as I click on "Contact Us" which is the way to email them,my computer
will lock. There are no error messages,,it just simply freezes and I have
to go through the whole Control/Alternate/Delete process to end the
task.
I know Windows XP would be better than my
present 98 but my operating shouldn't be the problem with this particular
site. Never had this sort of problem, before.

Contact the web admins for that site. Find out what all they did
during the upgrade and what all technologies they are using on the web
site. They could be using several different programs at once. If your
"player" of that technology is an older version you probably need to
upgrade. They also may have programmed in some sort of problem for some
people, and they may be working with others and have a "fix" for people
with problems.
Make a note of EXACT wording on any error messages that come up
and go to www.microsoft.com/technet
and do a search for key words in that error.
What version of Windows are you using? If you are using Windows
98, while better than systems before, it still had a lot of "locking up"
problems. I wouldn't use anything less than Windows 2000 or XP anymore.
If you are using Windows 95, throw the whole unit out the window and go
buy an HDTV ;)
Steve
I've deleted all temp files and cookies.
I've run SpyBot. Deleted all kinds of programs. Booted and re-booted.
I'm using IE6.1 which worked fine until the site admins tried
upgrading the site. Now,all I can do is open the Home page. Anything
else and my computer locks up.

What version of windows are you using? any chance
you have Sun's version of Java on your system? If so, unload it and
try again. (Sun's Java and Microsoft sometimes don't play well with
one another)
Another thing to try, if you don't have free program called
Ad Aware on your system ...I suggest you put it on and run a scan.
I'll bet you are surprised at what it comes up with. Earthlink users
have a free options as well that works pretty well. I use both and
one finds things the other doesn't. These mini "spyware" programs
are put on without you knowing it, and you don't know what they
might be interfering with on your system.
Unload any unused programs. Especially ones you have no idea
what they are. Go into the control panel and in the "add remove
programs" unload anything you don't know what it is .....except the
patches at the bottom from Microsoft ..leave those in
there.
That was a lot of patches to download. You did re-boot
right?
Steve
I've done just about everything but
trying to open any of the site features still causes my computer
to lock up. This sucks.

Clint, I am guessing that's not your
problem, but to deleted your cache, ....if you are using
Internet Explorer, click on TOOLS then INTERNET OPTIONS then
look for the "Temporary Internet Files" section. Click the
"delete files" button.
If that don't fix your problem, click on
START then look for "Windows Update" on the left column
somewhere. If it's not there, click on All Programs then look
for Windows Update at the top. Download anything you see that
are critical updates ( note: some will only let you download the
one item at a time, others will let you download other files
with them) Also, download anything in the drivers section, and
anything in the middle section that you think you might need.
Some of them you would never need. Since most chat rooms
are java based, I highly recommend you download anything saying
"java".
That's a place to start anyway. If that
don't do it, check any personal firewall settings, and also
check the Security settings very near where you found the
temporary files you deleted. It's a separate tab labeled
security. Check the java sections, or bring it down a notch and
see if that works.
Steve
One of my favorite forums
underwent some server upgrades. Now,I cannot access the site
without my computer locking up completely.
I was able to access the site on
a friend's system so I know the site is up & running. Do I
need to refresh/delete my system cache? If so,how do I do
that?
Thanks for any help,
