As it turns out, for some reason he originally didn't want to tell me where
the brakes came from, but it will all be fine.  Thanks one and all.  Now for
my next problem, I understand that I can easily put bigger drums on the back
(very inexpensively) from another car, maintain the balance with the dual
resevoir master cylinder, a disc / drum prop valve etc but have
significantly better stopping power.  Any suggestions for which make the
best donor cars for this type of swap?  Thanks again to one and all who have
been so helpful on this quest.

Doesn't someone make disc brake kits to go on stock spindles?
Maybe that's what he meant?
