Hi Beth, When you take her tomorrow to the Vet they will probably want to do a blood, stool and urine test. A lot of times when a dog looses that much weight that fast, their main organs, especially the kidneys start to show signs of shutting down. I have seen worse, if you can believe that, and the dogs can and do make a full recovery. It is best if you do get all the test done now, that way any one who adopts her will know where she stands for the future.
Did the shelter say where she came from? I can't believe that some one there didn't call a rescue 2 weeks ago, if she came in under weight to begin with. Or the least they could have done was make sure that she was eating. When I rescued Princess she was 5 pounds underweight because she had 3 types of worms. Had she stayed at the shelter for another week she would have looked as bad as your little Angel. She sounds like a good little sweet chi. I bet she is sleeping well because it is the first time in weeks that she feels secure and safe enough not to be on guard with a bunch of bigger dogs around.
