Try changing the bowl. Some times if their collar or a tag will clink on the bowl and scare them. You could even try using a plastic bowl lid and see how he does with that and then work back up to a bowl.
Jax is doing well and got his first injection yesterday. That didn't go over very well with him and he complained for about ten minutes. Wormer today to get rid of the round worms that almost all puppies come with. We are, unfortunately, still getting up around 2am but he goes out and goes potty and goes back to sleep. Here is an update on Merit: first, it is his second day home and he has not had even one accident!! He seems to know he should go potty outside. I am so proud!! Second, he slept nicely all night in his crate (next to my bed) without crying!! Third, he walks perfectly on a leash!! One weird issue, though (advice please!): he seems afraid of his food bowl. He tries to tip it over with his nose, although obviously I do not let him, and whenever he takes a piece of kibble from the scary bowl, he acts like he has done something very, very brave. Anyone else ever deal with something like this? One last thing-- he is DEFINITELY not a purebred chihuahua. Will you guys still love him? I think he is probably a chiweenie. You guys are going to think he is HUGE. He weighs 9 lbs. I have a picture but I can't figure out how to upload... Have a great day, everyone! I look forward to hearing from you!
