Comment #56 on issue 1028 by chu121su12: Do not stop downloads when closing the corresponding tab/window http://code.google.com/p/chromium/issues/detail?id=1028
@53: If you close all the tabs and open up the download tab, it'd be difficult to restore the closed tabs. Some caching algorithm must be done to restore them as it was before opening the download tab. Moreover, since there are still no 'restore session', you can't restore the tabs closed after reopening the download tab. At least, not for the last 10 tabs. Still @53; if you use FF or Safari, remember, their download are separated into another window. And if you re-access the main window (after closing it), you can restore their closed tabs easily. While in Chrome, the download manager is part of the tab. So it's best to only get it opened (if it's closed) or switch to it. If the 'Show download bar' item work, it might be even better. Since the download records can be called again to each responsible tab, Chrome can blink it's download status (the blue thingie beside close button) to the tabs that still downloading files --or maybe the whole tab itself-- while opening/focusing the download tab. The downloads that triggered by the closed tabs might not have to be shown, since you can see them within the download tab. Even and even better if issue #1719 to work too. Agree with #49 with some addition: to stop the downloads rather than to remove them. Later, you can get access their link. More agree with no tray feature. It only ease up Windows' users (no offense, I use windows too...) -- You received this message because you are listed in the owner or CC fields of this issue, or because you starred this issue.
