I suspect it has to do with apps that contain your personal information (web
history, contacts, email, etc).  Users come to expect their information is
found in certain places, and when you change that around, you can alienate
some users.  I suspect that is why GMail has backward compatible UIs but
sites like CNN do not.

It sounds like Alice and others will figure out if there is something that
needs to change.
