I have no list of visits made by Churchill to people in hospitals, but here is at least one.
He visited Lady Desborough in her Private Ward at University College Hospital, London, on 21 June 1943. She had fallen badly while walking across an empty street and broken her thigh. She was in considerable pain. She had fractured her right femur, which never mended. She was a few days short of her 76th birthday. Lady Desborough was an old family friend. Winston had first met 'Ettie' Desborough in 1901; they stayed in touch ever since. "Churchill was grieved to see how ill Ettie was, and worried that his visit overexcited her, as well it may have done. She never forgot him coming to the hospital that day: it was a wonderful tribute to his love for her, and testimony to the humane, stalwart friendship of the man."
