It would imply implementing support for Windows-specific audio +
accelerated video APIs (vs. OSS/Alsa + X11/Xv) and creation of
high-level wrappers for the A/V subsystems. These things are anything
but trivial, and the existing solutions (KDE 4's Phonon for example) are
only suitable for primitive playback, not for high-level editing.
