Please post the following commands after the serial interface has been
brought down:

show ip route
show isdn status
show interface bri 0

I dont see a problem with your config at all. I am curious to know if RIP
is propagating the routing table IF it is that the ISDN lines come up.
Also, perhaps you have an wuthentication issues at hand. Maybe post the
"debug ppp negotiations and debug ppp authentication" as well.

Subject: Problem with backup line... [7:70386]

Hi,

I am having a problem with setting up a backup line with 2 ISDN routers
(2503) they are connected with a serial connection and a ISDN as backup.

I can ping the serial ip adresses...but if i do an extended ping and lets
say i ping the interface 1000 times and disconnect the Serial cable it
should come up with the ISDN line but t does not come up.

This is allso very strange ...

I have RouterA and RouterB...

When i log into the routerB and i tupe a no shutdown command on the BRI
interface i get this:

RouterB#config t
Enter configuration commands, one per line. End with CNTL/Z.
RouterB(config)#interface bri0
RouterB(config-if)#no shut
RouterB(config-if)#
%LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface BRI0:1, changed state to down
%LINK-3-UPDOWN: Interface BRI0:2, changed state to down
%ISDN-6-DISCONNECT: Interface BRI0:1 disconnected from unknown , call
lasted 81 seconds
%ISDN-6-DISCONNECT: Interface BRI0:2 disconnected from unknown , call
lasted 82 seconds
%ISDN-6-LAYER2DOWN: Layer 2 for Interface BRI0, TEI 102 changed to down
%ISDN-6-LAYER2UP: Layer 2 for Interface BR0, TEI 103 changed to up

It comes UP again...that is strange isnt it?

These are my configs for the routers:
