I know my employer uses Juniper M40 and M160 routers. They were brought in
for the primary reason of performance and density. Cisco has started to
shrink that gap a little, but Juniper still has an edge. From my experience
with them which is very limited, they see to be just about as buggy as the
Cisco product at times.
As for a 12000 that crashes every week, what types of things are you running
on the router, IOS revision? Our 12008's rarely give us even a lick of
problems.
