you may want to volunteer at a more traditional agency.
like the red cross or local library or college or hospital.
these use IT and you may get some experience working on their
networks/computers while you answer phones or something.
just don't be too aggressive if they have paid staff doing this.
take it slow make friends and prove yourself.
after a year you should be running the place
