If this were the case, than show config & sho run should give different
result or an NVRAM error message should appear when rebooting.  I believe
we'd have more evidence.

We had a tools guy who wrote a script that somehow Copy Run Star-ed about
every 5 minutes & he burned the NVRAM out of an entire area of overseas
routers in less than a month.  If I recall, the damage was very very
noticeable, not just reloads or config changes
