I already had Vim.app installed, but hadn't tried running VimClojure commands from it. I just tried at it worked! I didn't add a .gvimrc file. The .vimrc file I already had was sufficient. So this casts a new light on the problem. It appears to be specific to the vim that is a standard part of Mac OS X. -- R.
