Sounds like common usage; e.g. as the owner of mired.org you get to
use it as groupId.

They seem to assume everybody's got a domain, but somethng like this
should be fine:
  <groupId>ant</groupId>
  <artifactId>ant</artifactId>
  <version>1.6.5</version>
