You are describing a boat that needs the interior redone to make boat
nice for cruising (cushions, woordwork, etc...)
Also - all sails would have to be replaced if purchased by a sailor who
likes any sort of peformance
Topsides needs a redo, deck - which is more work than topsides - needs
refinishing
and finally - the powerplant needs rebuild or replacement

To me this sounds like you made up a worse case scenario.

The only person that wants to buy this boat would be someone who wishes
to have a C&C33 that they pay for over time but does not have a lot of
money now. That person would not expect to pay a lot for a Project Boat
which this is. Sorry to put it that way.

If I were buying I would look at the prices of the deisel powered 33-1
boats around that have reupholstered cushions, new sails, nice topsides
and instrumentation and have been well maintained. Then I would
determine the price to repower, replace at least main and one jib,
reupholster cushions, paint topsides and deck and do a general refurb.
Subtract these costs from the mint boat and you have an idea what I
would offer.

I have friends with the same model. "Myah" formerly out of St John, NB
and for the past ten or so years out of Summerside, PEI. They buy one
new sail per year as a present to each other and constantly work on the
maintaining the boat. It is a beautiful boat.

Subject: Stus-List Hypothetical (not really) question

I'm trying to value my much loved (by me) 1975 33 Mk 1. Speaking
objectively, I'd say that it's structurally sound but shabby -- old
cushions, worn surfaces including some teak veneer loss. It has an A4
engine - reliable but requires coddling. Alcohol stove. Old, largely
end-of-useful-life sails. Old instruments (ST-50's) that are failing.
Charming keel smile. Topsides obviously painted by an amateur (me)
quite a few years ago with a brush/roller and 2-part Perfection. Deck
in need of a repaint as it was last done in the early 1990's. If you
had to guess, what would this thing sell (not list) for if it were
marketed by a broker and had to be moved in 12 months or less?

Thanks for any guesses! David
