When I go from the #1 (150%) to # 2 (135%) boat still points fine as they are 
still taking advantage of a well placed inboard track.

My # 3 (110%) however is another story.   Boat gets creamed upwind with the #3 
when sheeted to the track used for the #1 and #2.   It is too far aft by 6-12" 
and that makes a big difference.

I am also  convinced I should be able to sheet the blade-like sail closer 
inboard to my cabin trunk "inboard-inboard" track.   The #3 at 110%  however is 
too big.  The shrouds and it are not happy co-existing.   

So my next order of sails will include a #3 of 100% so I can sheet in to the 
"inboard-inboard" track.   I have visions of my new main and blade looking like 
those Farr 40s from the stern...damn those sails are sheeted tight to the 
center-line.  Boat porn in my opinion.

I will report back next season to see if my expensive experiment works.

Rob Ball told me to not let the 40 get beyond 22 degrees of heel.

That plus I will not let the rudder go beyond 5 degrees of angle.

Off the wind less heel is easier on all aboard and faster.   Racing uphill I 
push the upper limit of that number by keeping the biggest headsail for 
pointing.   

All sail configs follow suit.

I doubt that figure is universal but it may help.
