They're connected. The forward one is small, will pump out in a few seconds by itself, the aft one goes back to the engine compartment. May take a few minutes with a small pump, but this is what I use to keep everything as dry as possible (after a rain lets water down the mast, or when the mast boot cracked and let in a bunch of water). If you follow the saga of 30-1's, the mast step area should be kept dry.
