The MarineBeam nav products I got are rated to 3NM, rather than the 2NM for most others. I have to say, they’re very bright and very visible from a distance. I have concerns about the distant visibility of the single-LED solutions like the Orca Green: http://www.defender.com/product.jsp?path=-1|65136|2312550|2312561&id=1283095 <http://www.defender.com/product.jsp?path=-1%7C65136%7C2312550%7C2312561&id=1283095>
Having a small point-source light that doesn’t seem to me to be the best option over a longer distance. I like the way MarineBeam uses many LEDs with various orientations to spread the very focussed light that LEDs produce over a larger area. And having seen several versions of LED anchor lights in the anchorage this past weekend, you really see the differences between them. The 3NM MarineBeam really pops, even a mile or so away. — Fred Fred Street -- Minneapolis S/V Oceanis (1979 C&C Landfall 38) -- Bayfield, WI > On Aug 9, 2016, at 11:04 AM, Bill Coleman via CnC-List > <cnc-list@cnc-list.com> wrote: > > I will vouch for the deck/steaming light, I got one this spring on Fred’s > recommendation, and it is sweet! > Seems to be sealed.
