On my 30-1, I use an old vang and a couple of old blocks – tie the blocks together with the sheaves on the split part of the wire (have to un-do the turnbuckles). Then hook the ‘vang’ to the joint between them and pull away! Goes from about 500# per leg to nearly 1000. On my boat all It does is firm up the forestay with my tree trunk mast.
