I might as well post my gist for building openssl and lib crypto fat binaries 
in case someone wants a “build it once” solution

It supports:

Mac: i386 and x86_64
iOS: armv7, armv7s, and i386. It will add arm64 and x86_64 support for iOS 7 
SDK (the default).
