Review Comment:
You're right. I over-indexed on old-reader wire compatibility here. A
pre-change server can deserialize the constructor's scalar operands, but its
has no case, so it still cannot execute a literal. Because the feature itself
therefore requires upgraded servers, retaining the constructor does not provide
usable rolling-upgrade compatibility; it only adds a different failure path.
I'll fold into the new Thrift arm like the other arrays, remove the broker
special case, and update the compatibility test.
