We have a total of 18 community gardens and we base our rates on the total amount of water each garden uses in a year. Our water fee is based on a rate per square foot. Some gardens are more conscious about water conservation than others. Our rates are as low as 0.10 per square foot to as high as 0.42 per square foot.
It is amazing to hear some of the rates organizations are charging. We are moving away from subsidizing any part of the water cost and everyone else should start looking to doing the same.
