Tha's hardly fair, what OS are you running?

Turn off some extensions or something, this thing isn't a miracle
performing box you know. 7.0 should not be *that* bad, even on a 68000,
maybe it's got a problem somewhere.

Try installing a GeForce 3, that gave XP a complete heart attack on
mine.... ;)

40MB is not small for 1990, the LC only came with a 40MB hard disk too.
The largest available from Apple was 80MB in 1990 IIRC. The fact is 68k
code was a lot more space economical than x86 code (and still is - even
more so now although PPC code is sadly not quite as space saving) so PCs
needed bigger hard disks becasaue the programs were written badly and
with bloated x86 code, not because the manufacturers were feeling
generous. The money they spent on hard disk space in PCs in 1990 was
saved by using old technology (many 286s had chip RAM not SIMM RAM as
all Macs did at the time and since 1986) and horridly badly made cases
that allowed virtually no expansion. The difference between these and a
Classic? You had no option to buy a IIci if you bought a PC!

Most PCs didn't even have dreams of 4MB RAM in 1990, the 68000P16 is way
faster than an 8088, 8086 and is getting on the same terms as the 80286
in fact which not only meant Motorola made better CPUs than intel (any
idiot can tell you that) but also that Apple had an 8086 beating CPU
when the PC was still running an 8088.

$1000 was cheap for any desktop PC in 1990, nevermind a Mac.

I'll have it if you are throwing it out - I always wanted a CLassic :).
Are you in the USA?

Thank goodness ;). BTW I have heard of the TI-99 - I read Fire in the
Valley, it's a great book even if it is huge.

The SE is virtually the same as the Classic (although without the
crippling RAM problem) so anyone out there who has one has many of the
problems you do. I personally only have 2 SE/30s in the compact category
but hey :).

I said this a while back and got beaten up by everyone, I came to
appreciate the Classic case and elegance of looks but still can't stand
the little blighter's logic boards.
