IIRC, an 8088 couldn't... 80286 minimum, standard mode. >you realize how LONG it takes your compact Macs to boot after loading about >21.6MB of data on a 40MB Hard Drive??? (not to mention System 7.0!) Since I Running 6.0.7, good bit of data on the 40, 4 mb RAM. Boots very quickly. >installed WinXP on both my PC's, I have had not a lick of an error from >them! Face it! the Macintosh Classic is probably the WORST of the Road No, there are worse. Besides, if you WANT to compare XP to a Mac Classic, think of this. My Mac Classic has almost never popped up a bomb. Windows has taken until Win2k to be nearly that reliable. A decade, and it's caught up to the Classic in reliability. (Yes, I know, it mutitasks, but Windows drove me to the mac.) >My goodness! if I don't get satisfactory performance and reliability from >this machine, I think I am going to toss it after all! What is your definition of "Satisfactory performance?" Don't compare it to a G3 on DSL, or even 56k.... >yanking my hair out...Don't get me wrong, You all have SE's and SE/30s! You Nope. Have a Classic here, too. I know what I can and can't do (and shouldn't) with it, and the expectations I should have. F'rinstance, MS Works fires up quickly and works beautifully. Photo editing? Er, well, PMac 7200. Video stuff? Quadra 840AV. Only web stuff I have ever done on my Classic is HTML editing (just need BBEdit, or even Simpletext/TeachText.) >are soo lucky you have an Apple Computer dealer where you live--you have Come to Coos Bay. There is no Apple Computer dealer here. -Eric _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
