Many thanks to Gamba and Philip Stortz for your advice on my non-booting SE/30 with the "curtain" on the screen. I will try everything you suggested when I get to it in the next couple of weeks.

It even survived the walk to the subway on a baggage cart thru Greenwich Village, and the train trip to Philadelphia on Amtrak.
