Many thanks to Gamba and Philip Stortz for your advice on my non-booting 
SE/30 with the "curtain" on the screen.  I will try everything you suggested 
when I get to it in the next couple of weeks.

You sure did, and I am quite grateful.  It even survived the walk to the 
subway on a baggage cart thru Greenwich Village, and the train trip to 
Philadelphia on Amtrak.  I'm sure I'll be able to fix it, especially with the 
spare mobo and all the good help from this list!
