You might well need a new PRAM battery, OTOH, those things last forever for some reason, which is probably why Apple moved them onto the hard-to-access logicboards. What happens if you specify the startup system with Startup Disk? Amazing that it defaults to 24-bit when the original system software for the Classic II was 7.0.1. This is going to sound like a stupid question, but was that what System 7 required -- 32-bit clean Mac?

SNL suffered from something Monty Python never did which I think is a purely American by-product of abundant capitalism: They had a generous 90 minutes to fill each week, fueled by commercial breaks, which is one thing for the late night talk-shows of the day like Johnny Carson, but quite another for a comedy sketch show. Rather than script out a tight comedy sketch like Python would, they had improve diarrhea and the sketches just wandered aimlessly for up to 10 minutes each (still do).
