Well, if you're taking a vote, I'd keep it in the list! It was six years after the first Mac, yet exactly the same processor, running at exactly the same speed. Its only merit was price. Of great significance in marketing terms, but of zero significance in technological terms.

Well, everybody here knows that I'm rather an SE guy, but this is too bad for poor ol' Mac Classic. I beg to disagree. You may include it in any list you want, you may call it what you're inclined too, but this machine has one thing that makes it stand out in the midst of Mackind and that guarantees it a lifetime place in my personal list of SIMs (Special Interest Macs): the ROM-boot feature. A three-second boot at a chord keystroke into a sleek 6.0.3 which may not have been the cutting edge of software development at the time but was usable and efficient - I call that technologically significant, yessir. A feature singular in Macs, regrettably; I don't know about other systems (and I don't care, either). Of course even this singular ability was of limited worth in that it wasn't upgradable, but it's still impressive as it is.

Just my two Euro cents, OM
