If you want to capture podcasts to your machine to transfer to an MP3
player you need podcast client software. There is a list of lots of
them here <http://www.podcastingnews.com/topics/Podcast_Software.html>,
I use iTunes because it is easy and I have an iPod. You can find
podcasts listed in the iTunes store. Most are free,

Studio 360 is free if you download them right away but you have to pay
a small fee to audible or iTunes for the archives. Some of this is
the old walled garden that some shows were behind prior to podcasting
for free and some of it is an easy way to get support for shows. I
paid Audible four credits for a year subscription to Says You. Other
shows are all free. I think they have three years worth of the
Splendid Table on their site for free.

Podcasting is best for things that are really niche interests. My
wife is a knitter and there dozens of knitting related podcasts of
which she really likes a few. I listen/watch to the techie stuff from
TWIT.TV, Geek Brief TV, and WebbTV. I also watch funny stuff like Ask
A Ninja and Tiki Bar.

Some sites put up players so that you can stream the show on your
computer without actually downloading. If you like the show you can
subscribe or just listen that way. I don't care for streaming but it
works well enough to sample something.
