I only served farmers, not was one.  :-)

You are right it is Bull semen.  Steers are neutered very early in life.

By the way farmers only kept steers around for food purposes.  (Steaks)

Some of my folks had bulls but they were Beef variety and they would interbreed a heifer for the first time to see what her characteristics were, and then sell off the offspring from that for food purposes.

It seems we always had plenty of hamburger and occasionally a freezer full of steaks/burger and liver!

I would venture to say that farmers tend to be more green than their city counterparts.
