With the -16 kernel my system did nothing but freeze, so often and badly in fact that I pulled the r128 card and stuck in a ViperII (S3 Savage). I put the r128 back in after installing the -18 kernel. Using glx and dri, other than the kdm login screen, I have had no problem. No freezes no crashes and all 3d apps run well and since using gdm no login screen problem. It may be worth noting again that I am running the r128 on the -18 kernel Without fb. Charles
