For brown rice, you need one cup of uncooked brown rice.
two and a half cups liquid.
One tablespoon butter.
one teaspoon salt.
Combine  all ingredients in a saucepan and cover with a tight lid.
Stir together.
Simmer for 45 minutes.
If liquid is not completely absorbed, simmer for two to four minutes  more.

If you have a rice cooker, you can put everything in that and the cooker will just stop cooking when the liquid is absorbed.
