Interesting point, Bob.

I actually never felt claustrophobic in the 150, but very much so in the
172. Mainly, I think,
because to be far enough forward to reach the pedals (30" inseam) the
front door post was
right next to me head. If I turned to the left it was right there in front
of my face. I never
got a chance to use my hand controls in the 172 so I don't know if that
would allow me to move
back enough. I may get that chance now that I joined the local club. Thay
have a pair of 172's.

I also felt a bit enclosed in the Warrior, but I think that was just a
mental thing because of
not having a door on the left side.

But I have decided, when I get to the position where I can afford to buy
my own plane it will
be a coupe. I've heard too many good things about them (And have pretty
much determined that
the bad I've heard is from people with issues.), not only from you all
here on the net, but
also from personal friend who I admire and respect a great deal. Plus,
they are about the
neatest looking GA aircraft out there. Besides, if I want to practice
slips (which are a blast)
the club has a 152 also.

PS, I forgot to mention, anyone who's never flown a coupe has no idea
how 'claustrophobic' you get in
a high wing plane until they get out of it and fly a coupe. WOW! Look at
all that sky out there!!!
(BTW, does anyone remember what a 'clearing turn' is? That a flight
maneuver used to overcome the
'high wing handycap' so you don't run into something that you can't see
because the wing's in the
way.) ; - )
