HI George; It looks like we have more than just a difference of opinion here. My Aircoupe Service Manual for the model A2 & A2-A issued 1 July 1967 states on page 11: (under rigging of Elevator) "correct any error by adjustment of the elevator control cables. Tension on these cable should be 160 to 190 pounds as measured on a tension-meter. Excessive rigging loads should be avoided to prevent damage to the fuselage structure." Which manual are you refering to that states the tension should be 60 to 70 lbs? Was there a later change issued to the 1967 Service Manual? I certainly don't want to create excessive loads, but the same wording happens to be in my copy of the Ercoupe service manual. i.e. ...160 to 190 pounds ...
