Thanks for the heads up on the Simple Green, John. I use it exclusively on painted surfaces. Does anyone know if THAT can do damage? If so, I'd like to know... I have used it for a year and have seen no ill effects to date. Thanks! Simple Green has an ammonia base, so it ATTACKS aluminum. You shouldn't use it unless you want to dissolve your airplane. Incidentally, WD-40 is a slower but adequate dissolver of oil smear. I get under the old 'coupe on the mechanic's creeper and spray it on the belly undiluted, then just wipe it off with a paper towel. Good Stuff. Happy 4th everyone- I am stuck at work. Someone's gotta man the ship, I guess.
