I took my coupe up to 12,000 ft, with still having 200 ft/min roc., on Feb 18, 1986. I stopped there as at the time I did not have a transponder.... Carlsbad coupes were advertised as capable of 18,000', with a service ceiling 15,500'.. Ercoupe, Touch of Class., page 354. Earlier specs listed service ceiling as 13,000' ( service ceiling is where the roc is at 100 ft/min, I think). Ercoupe, A Touch of Class, page 85. Club Air Specs , 1949, give 11,000 ft.: Ercoupe, Touch of Class, page 252. BUT don't get up there real high and real slow in the airline traffic.....especially without a transponder...
