Larry, I believe you are giving up far too easily.

Don't underestimate the resilience of the human spirit. Especially the
human spirit in New York City :-)

Right now, everyone is afraid of everything. Heck it appears that Cabinet
is afraid of Ercoupes. So I guess we finally are 'Scare-coupes.' Maybe
they'll get over it. We just have to hope they get over it while we still
exist as a viable fleet in the US; before all the serious GA pilots have
either packed it in and bought a fishing boat or moved to Canada.

It sort of like the first time you walk around New York City at night. If
your a suburbanite, and grew up on the horror stories of 1970's, every
shadow makes you jump. You're SURE you're about to be mugged.
Eventually, you get over it, and you figure out that the likelihood is
fairly small unless you make yourself into a target.

People in a lot more hazardous places than the post 9/11/2001 USofA
have learned to continue to exercise their personal freedoms without
being in a constant state of paranoia.

We will, too.

The key thing is not to lash out at every imagined enemy... ...which the
Administration appears to be in danger of doing in more ways than one.
