Hi Dick::

Yeah it was an amateur radio unit, all enclosed in a small minibox.  It
had a blind GPS receiver, packet
modem unit ( I call them Modio's) and a 5 watt transmitter block.  it
streamed out data every minute and
a half for the entire trip under one of my Nephew's remote call letters.
There were some objections
from the amateur community about an unlicensed ham in the cockpit.  My
license is commercial and reads
"able to operate all transmitting equipment"  all being the key word.  I
was quite satisfied with the
results, and the enormous amount of data received during the trip.
